Growing And Giving Back

Growing And Giving Back

Whether you’ve been watching the news or just perusing social media it is easy to get overwhelmed with all the crisis and hurt that is going on all over the world. You may be wondering, “How can I actually make a difference from my little corner of the world?“

There is a paradox I have seen played out so many times, personally and in the lives of so many others, and your desire to do something can be met in the middle of it.

Are you game?

You may be wondering how you can grow and gain more in your life, while simultaneously striving to give back?

One proven example is going on a mission trip. I have been on a few and I can tell you that the same thing happens every single time; Compassionate volunteers come together with a desire to go and make a difference in the lives of the community they are planning to serve. In the midst of their “selfless” time of “giving back” the volunteers’ lives are actually changed. The humble gratitude of the people is more than contagious. On one trip (ministering in another country) as we were enjoying an evening meal prepared by the community, a young woman was among the group coming to us and sharing how their Iives were being impacted. After she shared her story, I happened to comment on how I loved her camouflage t-shirt. On the day of our departure the same young lady brought me her shirt as a gift. (Did you catch that? She literally gave me the shirt off her back!) I knew the sacrifice it was for her to give from her few possessions to show her appreciation. I was humbled and overcome with emotion. This is how it usually happens, even within local opportunities I have seen similar scenarios play out, letters and cards made from the hearts of young children melt ours.

One of my greatest joys as a Transformational Life Coach is to help others identify what they are passionate about and help connect them to opportunities make a difference in their lives and the lives of others.

If we aren’t here on earth to grow AND to give back, then why are we here?

If you’ve been feeling a pull to make a difference, but your schedule doesn’t have any margin at the moment to add a Mission trip or even to volunteer locally, I have a great opportunity for you!

This is a Win-Win!

A friend of mine (Marked Writers Publishing) recently published a couple of devotional anthologies (that my writings have  the privilege and honor of being featured in):

You can purchase one or both of the Devotional Anthologies on Amazon;

A Movement of Hearts or A Testimony of Voices

When you purchase these for yourself or as a gift, not only do you have daily inspiration, but all proceeds go to support the Dream Center in Mombasa, Kenya (via Andrus Family Missions Inc.)

You can follow the progress on their FB page and know that your purchase is changing lives daily!

I have already been amazed and humbled by what has been accomplished in just a few weeks.

I pray that these devotional stories touch your heart and grow your faith as you plant seeds that will bear fruit across the world for years to come.

And if you are stuck, wanting to make a difference but not knowing quite how, I would love to connect your passion and purpose- send me a message or comment below!

When Your Journey Takes A Detour

When Your Journey Takes A Detour

I was driving down the unfamiliar highway with my eyes darting from road to GPS when the blue line I had been following suddenly vanished. I had been prompted (& prepared) for an upcoming exit but the entire right lane, as far as I could see, was now blocked with...

Looking Beyond

She sat on the bathroom counter gazing at the girl in the mirror. At sixteen hope of what the future holds should have reflected back stronger than the vanity lights. Instead rejection shouted louder than the lovely smile that was beginning to fade. Like a carnival's...

Blooming Through The Hard Times

I crumpled on the bathroom floor unable to take another step. Ice cold tile shocked the palms of my hands and stopped the flow of tears. "Shake it off," mocked the rational side of me. I had places to go and obligations to fulfill. How are we supposed to keep going on...

The Elusive Unicorn

One of the earliest pieces I ever remember writing was entitled "The Princess and The Unicorn".  It haunted me for years as I tried to dissect the story for  the meaning of the melancholy princess and her sole source of happiness. Who would have dreamt the popularity...
