One thing I’ve learned, beyond a shadow of a doubt, is girls like to hang out with girls! We love to talk together, we love to play together, we love to laugh and cry  together.

We may not always realize it, but a sort of healing takes place when we do these things .

We are creative, emotional creatures and occasionally we need to creatively vent our emotions. (Guys, this is the perfect time to let us have that “Chick Time”)

A few years ago I was introduced to an organization that met that opportunity head on!

Chicktime was created so a Mom and her daughter could share this time with other Moms and their daughters at a local Children’s Shelter.

I attended the Chicktime leaders retreat this past weekend and was in awe of how many Chapters have been birthed all over the US, and even one in Africa!

Proof positive of my above theory, especially the healing part.

As I sat on the porch in a rocker, watching a beautiful  Texas sunrise, words from Isaiah 58 literally jumped out at me:

“You will be called Repairer of Broken walls, Restorer of Streets with dwellings. ”

I recalled a moment earlier this year gazing on a crumbling, stone church. I felt God revealing to me the stones scattered all over the ground represented hurting people’s lives that needed to be restored to their rightful place.

That had been me once. Broken, hurting, cast aside. That is why I am so passionate about mentoring teenagers!

I now saw how many of the women here at the retreat, leaders, echoed my heart’s cry! Not only did we”play” beside them every month, we also understood the struggles many of  the girls were going through.   Chicktime’s Mission Statement is “Encouraging women to develop their passions and use their gifts to make the world a better place for the next generation”. As we help each other “rebuild our walls” over coffee, prayer and laughter, or attending retreats, we equip ourselves to restore the next generation.

I am so thankful to have this opportunity. I am so thankful someone helped restore me. And, most of all, I’m so glad God made me a Chick, even with the messy, emotional parts, because that part  is also what makes me laugh and cry in the good times when I celebrate a restored life He has allowed me to be a part of!

Celebrate with some Chicktime of your own this week! Laugh, cry and maybe even reach out to the next generation. Be careful, though it’s addicting!

Love,

Pazazdance
